Phishing Scam

Dear Ridgeview Families,

I want to follow up and provide more information regarding the suspicious email that was recently sent to our entire school community. The email appears to come from our school but is not legitimate and we believe is an attempt to gather personal information (a phishing scam).

The email referenced job opportunities, and when opened contained a link to a form requesting at least the following information: name, personal email address, age, gender, address, phone number, and bank information.

Our IT team is currently investigating the situation.

We ask that you please go into your @ridgeview19.org email account (student and/or staff) and follow these steps:

1. Click the box next to the email and then click the Trashcan icon near the top of the screen.
2. Open the Trash folder
3. Click the box next to the email again and click Delete Forever

In the event information was provided on the form, please let us know so we can further monitor your school email account for suspicious activity.

To reiterate:

1. Do not respond to the suspicious email or provide any personal information.
2. Delete the email immediately from your inbox and trash folder.
3. Change your passwords if you accidentally clicked any links or shared sensitive details.
4. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on important accounts for added security.
5. Monitor your accounts for any unauthorized activity and report any concerns to your bank or service provider.
6. Talk with your child about the dangers of providing personal information, payment information, or login credentials online

We appreciate your vigilance in keeping our school community safe. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact me at eyoung@ridgeview19.org

Thank you for your cooperation and have a great weekend!

Mr. Young
