I just wanted to share some of our 15 hour day yesterday! We had a great time boiling down our sap to get Maple Syrup!
During the long process, we had a few visitors, played some games, and talked!
Thank you to everyone that came and shared part of the day with us!
Results: BEST SYRUP EVER! We ended up only getting about a quart of syrup after 25 gallons of sap! It's all about the quality though :)
Note About Testing:
I have been getting this question recently and wanted to make sure parents are aware.
"What do I do if my student has a rapid test, BUT the testing provider says they are sending it off for a PCR test also?"
If your testing provider is requesting a PCR test your student MUST stay at home until they receive a negative PCR test, even if the rapid test returned with a negative result.

If your student has a rapid test at a doctor's office or similar, BUT they say they are sending it off for a PCR also. Even if the rapid test was negative, students must still stay home until the other results are back (and negative of course)

SAP BOILING INFORMATION
Mr. Leinweber’s Environmental Science classes have collected about 25 gallons of sap this year! The plan is to have one (very long) day of sap boiling.
This year’s sap boil will take place Sunday, April 18th from 6:30am - ~8:30pm on the elementary playground blacktop. Students in the classes can bring friends and family to share in the process! Mr. Leinweber will have plenty of yard games and activities to help keep everyone busy. Bring a lawn chair and hang out for just a little while or the entire time!
Hope to see you there!
Reminder - Today (Friday) is a Half Day School Improvement Day. School dismissal is at 12:05PM.

With the warming temperatures just around the bend, Mr. Leinweber's Environmental Classes wrapped up their sap collection. There is a total of about 25 gallons of sap in the freezer waiting for the right day to boil it down into Maple Syrup!
With a 40:1 ratio, this should make just over half a gallon of syrup. It will take a total of 13-14 hours to boil off the excess water and concentrate the sugars.
