My name is Jeremy Miller. I'm the new science teacher at Ridgeview Jr. High and am the assistant coach of the High School/Junior high wrestling team. I wrestled throughout junior high and high school and have been coaching for seven years. Wrestling is a fantastic sport that is often overlooked and it provides developing kids with opportunities to build physical/mental strength, confidence, and it gives many kids a strong sense of belonging during the shaky years of young adulthood. If you think your child (Grades 5-8) would be interested in joining wrestling this year, we are having a short, 30-minute parent meeting tonight through ZOOM @ 8:00. I encourage you to join in with your child to get some basic information about the sport of wrestling, the 2021-2022 wrestling season, and to answer any questions you may have. Even if your child is slightly interested, please show up to check it out. Thanks Jeremy Also, our Teamreach name is RJHSwrestling Join Zoom Meeting https://us05web.zoom.us/j/85822000117?pwd=NkI5MFVMVGROSXY2TlliRDVhMGlRUT09 Meeting ID: 858 2200 0117 Passcode: jGzsc8

We are offering a fan bus to take JH/HS students to Lena-Winslow to cheer on the Mustangs in the Semi-Finals. The bus will be leaving from Ridgeview Jr/Sr High School at 10:00am. The price to ride the bus is $10, which includes admission to the game. Permission slips are available in the office. We need to have permission slips turned in by noon on Thursday to determine if there is enough interest to take a bus.

Below are a few early pieces of information for those going to the football game at Lena-Winslow on Saturday Nov. 20th. Please inform your fans that we have limited bleacher space, so they may want to bring lawn chairs. ---We do not have any seating on your team's side of the field, and fans are not allowed to be on that side of the field. It is all private property on that side behind the team bench. ---We do not allow tailgating on school property, but Lions park is located right next to our grounds and fans are welcome to use that area if they want to tailgate. Information on GoFan tickets and admission for the game will come out later this week. Thank you.

Mrs. Schultz had a few guest speakers in Health Education last week. ThinkFirst's Mission is to prevent brain, spinal cord and other traumatic injuries through education, research and advocacy. Traumatic Injury is a leading cause of death and disability among children, teens and adults. The most frequent causes are vehicle crashes, violence, falls and sports. Simple actions can greatly reduce our risk for injury, such as wearing a seat belt, driving safe, sober, and without distractions, wearing bike and sports helmets and other safety precautions. (www.thinkfirst.org) Our Program at OSF HealthCare Illinois Neurological Institute is offered for free to the communities around us through a grant through the Illinois Department of Transportation. We provide Interactive Presentations for all ages. Our Teen Program highlights a Voices of Injury Prevention Speaker (VIP) who shares their personal story about their experience with a traumatic brain/spinal cord injury. It is a complete joy to be a part of preventing potential lifelong injuries!
